God’s Grace is Greater

We serve a God who does not push us away;

We serve a God who draws us near.

No matter where you are,

God still seeks you.

No matter how much you’ve sinned,

God still loves you.

No matter how far you’ve fallen,

God still wants to lift you up.

No matter how heavy your guilt feels,

God still forgives you.

No matter how long you’ve run,

God still pursues you.

No matter how broken you feel,

God still works to put you back together.

No matter your past,

God still offers forgiveness, hope, and new life.

No matter how great your sin,

God’s grace is greater!

The Gift of Unanswered Prayer

In Word and Deed

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:17

In Ryan’s message today he reminds us that faith is not limited to a worship service or spiritual moments — faith covers everything. Our words, our actions, our work, and our relationships are all meant to reflect the name of Jesus.

To “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus” means more than attaching His name to what we do. It means representing Him living in a way that honors His character, follows His example, and seeks His glory. When Christ is the focus, even ordinary tasks become acts of worship.

Gratitude is the heartbeat of this verse. When we remember all that God has done for us through Christ, thankfulness naturally flows. A thankful heart keeps our service humble and our obedience joyful.

Take a moment today to list three expressions of gratitude you have for the Lord regarding His goodness to you.

Taste and See the Goodness of the Lord

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!”

Psalm 34:8

God’s goodness is not something we only talk about. It is something we are invited to experience. The psalmist does not say “think about the Lord,” but “taste and see.” God’s goodness is personal, present, and real.

Even in difficult seasons, the goodness of the Lord is not absent. It may show itself through strength to endure, peace in uncertainty, or grace that carries us one more day. The greatest evidence of God’s goodness is Jesus Christ — God giving His very best for us while we were still sinners.

When we remember the Goodness of the Lord, our hearts are steadied, our fears are quieted, and our gratitude grows. We may not always understand what God is doing, but we can trust who He is.

Today, take a moment to list three ways you have seen the goodness of the Lord.

Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians 3:16

In today’s message, Ryan is going to define the difference between “singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.”

After the message, take time to record in your journal at least one psalm, one hymn and one spiritual song that reminds you of the goodness of the Lord.

The Lord is Good Through Basketball

Today, we will celebrate our CrossPoint Rec basketball players. We have asked players and the families of those in the league to join us for worship and will play the highlight video you see attached. We want to recognize all of the hard work and dedication that went into making this season so great. We have loved watching players learn and grow, but most of all, we see the goodness of the Lord in the many opportunities we’ve had to share the Gospel with our community through basketball.

Quietly & Faithfully Every Day

Write this reminder in journal:

What looks really simple is the result of God’s quiet goodness.

That’s so good. It’s clear. It’s simple. It’s self-explanatory.

Just for today, look for the goodness of the Lord
not in the extraordinary, but in the ordinary
not in the flashy, but in the familiar
not in the large, but in the little
not in the loud, but in the quiet
not in the miracles, but in the mornings
not in the remarkable, but in the usual
not in the shouts, but in the whispers
not in the spectacular, but in the simple
not in the uncommon, but in the common

May we learn to see God’s goodness

not only in great moments

but also in everyday blessings.

When we open our eyes to the ordinary,

we discover that God’s love and care

surround us quietly and faithfully every day.

I Have Had the Privilege

I want to share with you two privileges I have had as your pastor these three decades.

I want to speak of my privilege to you. Then, I want to speak of your privilege to me.

Allow me to explain.

When I speak of my privilege to you, I am talking about the sacred responsibility God gave me—to serve you, to lead you, to
love you, and to shepherd you faithfully. That privilege is expressed in what I was called to give.

But when I speak of your privilege to me, I am talking about the grace you extended—to accept me, forgive me, trust me, walk with me, and allow me into your lives. That privilege is expressed in what I was allowed to receive.

So let me first speak of my privilege to you.

I have had the privilege of

loving you wholeheartedly,
leading you enthusiastically,
trusting you sincerely,
affirming you regularly,
and protecting you fervently.

I have had the privilege of

casting God’s vision for you,
pursuing God’s plans with you,
seeking to understand God’s future among you,

and seeing God’s goodness at work in you.

I have had the privilege of

witnessing to you,
introducing some of you to Christ,
baptizing many of you in the faith,
discipling you in the gospel,
and training you to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

I have had the privilege of

praying for you in sickness,
mourning with you in death,
grieving with you in loss,
weeping with you in sorrow,
and walking with you through deep distress.

I have had the privilege of

counseling you in times of decision,
encouraging you in seasons of darkness,
coaching you in moments of growth and promotion,
and supporting you in stretches of insecurity and uncertainty.

I have had the privilege of

welcoming your babies into this world—
and in some cases, welcoming you into this world as well.
and for a few, I not only welcomed you,
but later had the joy of welcoming your children too.
and dedicating your families to Christ.

I have had the privilege of

placing a Bible into the hands of your first grader,
a student Bible into the hands of your sixth grader,
sending your high school graduate off to college with a Bible in hand—
memorizing Scripture with you.

and reading through the Scriptures with you, year after year,

I have had the privilege of

celebrating birthdays with you,
commemorating anniversaries with you,
watching God’s faithfulness unfold across generations,
rejoicing with you in worship,
and walking with you through seasons both heavy and holy.

And through it all, I have learned this: I did not do these things to repay the Lord—but to respond to Him, to respond to His
goodness to me.

As your pastor, I have had the privilege of receiving far more than I could ever render.

Finally, let me conclude with your privilege to me.

I have had the privilege of being accepted by you— and you accepted me graciously.

You didn’t require perfection.
You didn’t expect me to have all the answers.
You welcomed me, trusted me, and walked with me as we
learned together.

I have had the privilege of being forgiven by you— and you have forgiven much.

There were moments I said the wrong thing,
times I moved too fast or too slow,
decisions you didn’t always understand—
and yet you chose grace over resentment, patience over
judgment, mercy over blame.

I have had the privilege of being loved by you— and you have loved me unconditionally.

Not because I always got it right,
not because I never disappointed you,
but because you chose to love as Christ loves—steadfastly,
faithfully, and generously.

And yes… I have even had the privilege of being tolerated by you
and we don’t have enough time to explore all that entails.

But through every season—

the joyful ones and the difficult ones,
the years of growth and the years of stretching—
you have shown me what it means to be a church that lives
out the gospel.

You prayed for me.
You stood with me.
You laughed with me, and you also laughed at my jokes.
You carried me.
You loved me.
You extended grace when it would have been easier not to.

And for thirty years, you have allowed me the sacred privilege of being your pastor.

That is the greatest gift you have ever given me
And that gift I do not take lightly—and one I will always be grateful for.

Thank you for letting me

grow here,
fail here,

learn here,
and serve here.

Any good that has come from these years belongs to God—and any grace that carried us belongs to you.
