So That They May Take Hold of That Which is Truly Life

17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

1 Timothy 6:17-19

I don’t know about you, but I want more.  I want much more than what I already enjoy.

No, I am not talking about more money, more possessions, or more toys.  I am not thinking of more debt, more bills, or more self-inflicted heartaches associated with those things.

Instead, I am talking about more of what God wants for me to enjoy.  I want more of what Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:19, when he wrote, “so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”  I want more of that which is truly life.

What about you?  Do you want more?  Do you want more of that which is truly life?  I believe you do, and that is why our theme for the 2019 It’s Your Move generosity initiative is So That They May Take Hold of That Which is Life.

Our possessions, our income, and our assets are not what God wants us to accumulate.  Instead, God wants us to accumulate blessings, opportunities, and experiences of the abundant life He provides for us in Jesus Christ.  That is what Paul is describing when he said, “so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”

So, here we go.  It is year seven of It’s Your Move, and I believe it will be our best year.  It will be another year of learning.  It will be another year of growing.  It will be our seventh year of embracing what the Lord wants for us in this life.

As we do every year, Vonda and I look forward to taking this journey with you.  We are excited about learning more, giving more and gaining more.

We thank the Lord for you when we remember you in our prayers. We thank Him also for your love for us.  Thank you for allowing us the high privilege to serve you.  We love you.

Grace always,

Ryan
