JESUS JUST SWOONED
Dr. J. Vernon McGee was one of America’s pioneer radio preachers. McGee used his innovative broadcast Thru the Bible to preach through the Bible every five years. Even though McGee has been deceased since 1988, his program continues to air on more than 400 radio stations in North America, and is heard in 100 languages and is broadcast worldwide via radio, shortwave and Internet.
Dr. McGee received a letter from a lady who listened to his program. She wrote: “Our preacher said that on Easter Jesus just swooned on the cross and that the disciples nursed him back to health. What do you think?”
The Bible teacher’s reply was a real classic. McGee replied, “Dear Sister, beat your preacher with a leather whip. Nail him to a cross. Hang him in the sun for six hours. Run a spear through his heart. Embalm him. Put him in an airless tomb for three days. Then see what happens.”
On April 4, CrossPoint will celebrate what happened to Jesus after he hung on a cross for six hours, had a spear run through His side and then was put away in an airless tomb for three days.
PREPARING FOR RESURRECTION DAY
As we approach this highpoint of the Christian year we want to remind you of some Resurrection Day priorities:
1. PRAY for the Good Friday Lord’s Supper &
Resurrection Day celebrations.
2. USE the Resurrection Day postcards to invite people
to CrossPoint.
3. ASK God for people to be born-again on
Resurrection Day.
4. ATTEND the Good Friday Lord’s Supper at 12:00
noon on April 2.
5. PARTICIPATE in Bible Study and worship either
at 8:15, 9:30 or 10:45 AM.
6. BRING flowers to “Flower the Cross.” Three
crosses will be available at different entrances for
you to flower. We “Flower the Cross” to symbolize
how God took a cruel, ugly symbol of death and
made it into a beautiful symbol of life.
7. GREET everyone around you. We will have many
first-time guests. Please help them feel welcomed.
Additionally, we are asking as many people as possible to attend the 8:15 AM worship celebration so that we have extra room for the 9:30 & 10:45 AM crowds. Also, we are asking our leaders to arrive early and to park on the upper parking lots so we have plenty of parking for our guests. We are expecting more than 2000 people on campus. It is going to be an incredible day. And I know each of you will come with an expectant heart for worship.

A few weeks ago, when we read the following press release from Mid-Western Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, we knew we needed to be involved:
MIDWESTERN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL
SEMINARY,KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Midwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary leaders are in the midst of
planning the construction of a new chapel complex –
one of the largest projects in MBTS history
encompassing a welcome center, increasing chapel
capacity to more than 1,000 seats and creating
additional classroom space.
An integral aspect of the planning phase includes
enlisting a large volunteer effort -- more than 1,500
people – to offset construction costs of the 40,000-
square-foot facility approved by MBTS trustees in
October.
MBTS President R. Philip Roberts noted, “It doesn’t
matter what level of skill is possessed, we’re looking for
churches and individuals from across the Southern
Baptist Convention who are willing to commit their
time and energy into making this project a reality.”
Our Mission Construction Team will soon travel to
Kansas City to learn more about the effort. We will
most certainly make you aware of the opportunity in
the weeks to come. The date for the trip is June 7–11.
CROSSPOINT BASKETBALL LEAGUE
The CrossPoint Basketball League completed its inaugural season earlier this month, and the final numbers are unbelievable:
14 area churches
50 teams
500+ games
600 participants
CrossPoint’s Adult Basketball League begins this week and continues through April 13. Nine local churches have registered 12 different teams, with more the 100 participants playing. The Recreation Ministry of CrossPoint is flourishing.
HABITAT UPDATE
We have made tremendous progress building our two Habitat houses for the Bennett and Hobdy families. The target date for the dedication of these homes is Good Friday, April 2. We still have many opportunities for you to serve every Friday and Saturday between now and then.
The Children’s Ministry is collecting household or pantry items to give to these families as housewarming gifts on the Dedication Day. If you would like to participate, please place your items in the orange buckets in the Connector before March 28.
TIME CHANGE
Finally, we return to Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, March 14. Remember to spring your clock forward Saturday evening.
